Spirit Masks

I created these Spirit Masks in 2015 and 2016 using only materials gathered within the Samish Watershed. Rooted in my deep relationship with place, the masks reflect my interest in the transformative power of natural materials, ritual, and embodied creativity.

I view costume, masquerade, and play as powerful tools for accessing the Trickster—the archetypal force of disruption, adaptation, and transformation found in cultures throughout the world. These masks invite wearers to step beyond familiar identities, explore alternative ways of seeing, and engage with the creative possibilities that emerge through transformation.
